Winter and Spring 2015 have been another busy and productive time for the brothers of Theta Xi at UCLA! Here’s what we’ve been up to.

New Members

First, we welcome our nine new members initiated I 2015 thus far—Amir Naveh, Alexander Albrecht (our 1,700th member!), Chris Powelson, Ryan Amaudruz, Kelyn Clark, Franklin Acevedo, John Alkibay, Matthew Reiser and Dominic Masi.

Giving back to the community

On a philanthropic note, the Alpha Zeta chapter were a leading part in two events: the first our annual ultimate Frisbee tournament in aid of the national MS society, and the second a day out for the boys and girls club of east LA, focusing on health and related issues for young members of our community. In addition, brothers participated in several sorority philanthropies, including Delta Gamma’s anchor splash, where the efforts of nine brothers in the synchronised swimming section was very impressive.

Alumni events

There were three alumni active events over the time period: the 6294 BBQ, the 6294 formal dinner and a visit to watch a Dodgers game. All were very much enjoyed by the actives, and a special mention goes out to the brothers who helped us to win the annual song contest! If you couldn’t make it out to any of the events we hope to see you this fall at the alumni tailgate!

Departing Members and Live-in Advisors

Finally we come to the departing brothers who either graduated or are transferring school: Mitchell Barnes-Wallace, Kyle Travaglini, Michael Van Cleve, Ryan Amaudruz, Jeff Asher, Dillon Starr, Drew Soucie, Andres Arevalo, Michael Huang, Michael Richardson, Billy Conway, Ruben Acevedo, Brian Champion, Andrew Erickson, Aaron Maughn, Kirk Psara, Krish Ravipati, Mark Tompkins. It’s with sadness and fond memories we say goodbye, but we are happy to welcome Drew Soucie and Dillon Starr as the upcoming live-in advisors.

That’s all the big news from the year so far, check back in for the fall tailgates or newsletter to hear about fall recruitment, camping trips, more philanthropies and more. Till the fall!
